Baeddelism Never Died

january 1, 2023

Imagine...

A world where trans solidarity is practiced all around the planet is an utopian world. Ever since the dawn of transgender communities, there would be fights and arguments about how are we supposed to exist.
In modern days, a lot of attention is given to transmisandry that is experienced by trans women and transfemme individuals. Which is good! But it seems that the proposals given to combat this hateful attitude sometimes... go off limits.

But what the fuck is Baeddelism?

Baeddelism isn't actually Tumblr-made as an ideology. It is a certain subset of transmisandry that is mostly perpetruated by trans women and transfemme individuals (akin how to TERF ideology is perpetruated mostly by cis women). And just like TERFism, baeddelism is a subset of radical feminism.
Hell, even the name is the same! Like, baeddelism is the same as TIRFism! There's so much to say about the similarities between the two it's crazy.

The term we are using here was, indeed, coined on Tumblr. It was at first used to describe a certain clique of trans women whose main actions were targetting transmasculine individuals and harassment.

However now it is used towards anyone who perpetruates the TIRF ideology.

You can read a more in-depth post about baeddelism's Tumblr origins here.

Okay, but the clique disbanded, why use the word now? Isn't that just transphobia?

Now, why did they disband? Baeddel clique was home to serial sex pests (under the basis that trans women cannot hurt anyone, thus they deny these accusations).
Why use this word? Because "transmisogyny" doesn't just cut it. Just like transphobia has so many flavors, so do subsets of transphobia.
A lot of opposition to the word "baeddel" comes from the alleged transmisogynist etymology.

And if you've read the post I linked, you would probably know that baeddel, if anything, would be a slur against intersex people. Plus, they call themselves baeddels, it's once again another radfem trope to call oneself X and then cry that "X is a slur" once you're being held accountable.

Baeddelism only happened due to that clique, it isn't a thing anymore!

Nazism didn't die with the fall of Third Reich.
American white supremacy didn't die with Donald Trump leaving the office.

Just because the baeddelist clique is no more, baeddelism never went away. It never died.
It may be because society is so liberal on transmisandry in general, but there's a lot of people who purposefully (or not) keep bringing up the baeddel talking points.
